One of the questions that we are most frequently asked is "What is the weather like?" This is what we usually say ...
In the UK the weather is 80% not good and 20% good. The problem is that you never know when the 20% good is going to arrive ... and when it does it is glorious.
Our personal experience based on the time we have spent living here (since 2004) is that in June, July and August the weather is almost guaranteed to be good - apart from the very infrequent downpour.
The rest of the year it is like the UK but in reverse ..... 80% good and 20% not good.
 Just like the UK it is impossible to predict when the 80% good will happen but the odds here in Alcaidesa are in your favour.
The picture on the left is a beautiful sunny day in October - 31//10/07. The picture on the right is the same evening - it didnt rain though!
Another point about the weather is that we are in an area known as the "Campo de Gibraltar" i.e. the area around Gibraltar. This is where the mediteranean and the atlantic meet. The weather can feel different from one day to the next - depending on the direction of the wind. The hottest time of the day here is often mid afternoon.
If asked we always recommend that people bring layers to wear. On a sunny day in the middle of winter it can be hot enough to sunbathe in swimwear on the beach during the day and yet you would need to wrap up during the same evening. For ladies, a pashmina-style wrap is a good idea for the suitcase. It can be used as a extra layer in the evening and for protection from the sun during the day.
When the sun comes out here it is far stronger than in the UK so please make sure you apply sun cream when you are outside.
